The Kuwait Banking Association participated in the 2024 International Arab Banking Summit, which was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 23-24, 2024, under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Banking Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Duaij Al-Sabah, and Sheikh Mohammed Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait International Bank, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Arab Banks.
The summit was also attended by His Excellency the Turkish Minister of Finance and Treasury, Mr. Mehmet Simsek, His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey, Dr. Fatih Karahan, and the Chairman of the Turkish Banking Association, Mr. Albaslan Sakar, and a number of banking, economic and governmental leaders.
The summit was held to discuss visions for developing Arab-Turkish and international economic relations in the areas of mutual investment and banking cooperation. The summit also included working sessions on a number of topics, including global monetary policies, the development of economic growth and confronting inflation, digital banking services, in addition to climate risks and food security.
For his part, Sheikh Ahmad Duaij Al-Sabah stressed the importance of this summit, which aims to strengthen Arab regional economic partnerships, enhance cooperation and exchange expertise to develop bilateral investment and financial cooperation, especially in the areas of banking technology to keep pace with developments in global financial services and enhance innovation in order to achieve economic development.
