The Secretary General of the Kuwait Banking Association, Prof. Yaqoub Al-Sayed Yousef Al-Rifaei, stated that within the framework of the cooperation between the Kuwait Banking Association and The Business Year Foundation, the Kuwait Banking Association is participating as a strategic supporter of the “Thought Leadership Circle” series of events, which is organized by The Business Year Foundation in cooperation with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority.
The first of these events will be a symposium entitled “Accelerating Technology and AI Implementation” scheduled to be held on December 9, 2024, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Mr. Omar Al-Omar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Banking Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Duaij Al-Sabah, and a group of the most important leaders of the Kuwaiti banking sector, leaders of public and private sector institutions, the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, the Shared Banking Services Company (KNET), Zain Telecommunications Company, and a number of international companies including SAP and Google Cloud.
Al-Rifaei stressed that participation in such seminars and events comes within the framework of the keenness of Kuwaiti banks and the Kuwait Banking Association to support the economic and digital transformations witnessed by the country, in line with the Central Bank of Kuwait’s strategy for digital transformation with the aim of consolidating monetary and financial stability in the country, and enhancing the environment of strategic dialogue between different sectors, which contributes to enhancing innovation and exchanging visions between leaders of the public and private sectors.
Al-Rifaei added that these events provide an ideal platform to explore opportunities for cooperation and achieve sustainable economic development.
The seminar will discuss a number of key topics such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enhancing technological innovation in financial services. The banking sector will be represented in the discussions by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Duaij Al-Sabah, and Mr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Kharafi, Chief Operating Officer and Information Technology Officer at the National Bank of Kuwait Group.
Al-Rifaei concluded by stressing the importance of concerted efforts by all concerned parties to achieve sustainable economic development, and enhance Kuwait’s position as a regional center for investment, innovation and artificial intelligence in light of the digital revolution witnessed by the world.
