Mrs. Ibtisam Al-Haddad – Head of the Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Sustainability Committee at the Kuwait Banking Association and General Manager of Strategic Planning and Follow-up at the Commercial Bank of Kuwait, stated on the occasion of the first World Clean Energy Day following the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution in August 2023 declaring January 26 of each year – The anniversary of the founding of the International Renewable Energy Agency in 2009 – a World Clean Energy Day, which this year coincides with the establishment of the Kuwait Banking Association, a specialized quality committee concerned with focusing on environmental, social, and corporate governance sustainability standards. The establishment of such a committee, in turn, represents a pivotal step that reflects the sector’s commitment. From this standpoint, Al-Haddad confirmed that the establishment of the Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Sustainability Committee under the umbrella of the Kuwait Banks Association represents a pivotal step towards fruitful cooperation at the level of the banking sector in the State of Kuwait that leads to unifying efforts and enhancing effective contributions within the scope of sustainable development.
