Kuwait Banking Association Participates in the Annual Dinner of the World Union of Arab Bankers in Beirut and Celebrates the Honoring of Kuwaiti Banking Talents with the 2025 Excellence Awards
The Kuwait Banking Association participated in the annual dinner of the World Union of Arab Bankers, held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Phoenicia Hotel – Beirut.

The event was attended by Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, President of the Union of Arab Banks; Dr. Joseph Torbey, President of the World Union of Arab Bankers; Dr. Wissam Fattouh, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Banks; former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora; and a large number of Arab, European, and foreign ambassadors accredited in Lebanon, in addition to senior Arab banking figures and representatives of regional and international financial institutions.

This event, which has become a key annual milestone in the Arab banking industry, witnessed the honoring of the most notable banking achievements for 2025 by The Banking Executive Magazine, the official publication of the World Union of Arab Bankers, for the eleventh consecutive year, aiming to spotlight success stories and innovations in the Arab banking sector.

In this context, Ms. Shaikha Al-Essa, Deputy Secretary-General of the Kuwait Banking Association, was awarded the “Women Leadership Award in Arab Banking Associations”, in recognition of her effective efforts and distinguished contributions to empowering women and enhancing their presence in the Arab banking sector.

Additionally, several Kuwaiti banks were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments during the ceremony:

• Kuwait International Bank (KIB) received the Excellence Award in Digital and Customer Experience Banking Leadership in Kuwait for 2025, which was presented to Mr. Musab Al-Shaalan, Deputy General Manager of Retail Banking, in recognition of the bank’s leadership in developing an integrated digital banking experience.

• Burgan Bank was awarded the Excellence and Leadership in Wealth and Credit Management Services in Kuwait for 2025, which was granted to Mr. Mishari Shehab, General Manager of Private Banking and Wealth Management, honoring his significant role in enhancing the wealth management system and offering innovative financial solutions.

Kuwait Banking Association affirmed that these accolades reflect the prestigious status of the Kuwaiti banking sector and its leadership in supporting talent, fostering innovation, and enriching the overall banking experience both locally and across the Arab region.

Sheikh Ahmad Duaij Jaber Al Sabah is the Chairman of Commercial Bank of Kuwait since April 1st 2018, after holding the position of Vice Chairman from 4/4/2015 to 31/3/2018 and Board Member from 29/4/2012 to 3/4/2015 In his capacity as Chairman of Commercial Bank of Kuwait , Sheikh Ahmed Duaij Al Sabah has been nominated as Chairman of Kuwait Banking Association . He is also a Board member in Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies. Furthermore, Sheikh Ahmed held the position of Board member in Kuwait Clearing Company representing Commercial Bank of Kuwait from 2018 until 2019. And the Chairman of Al Tijari Financial Brokerage Company from 2014 until 2020. During his tenure with Al Tijari Investment Company (CBK Capital) from 2010 to 2012 Sheikh Ahmed was Project Finance Manager , and Acting Portfolio Manager and Manager Private Equity, prior to that and specifically from 2005 to 2010 he worked with Commercial Bank of Kuwait in the Shareholders Service Unit. Sheikh Ahmed started his career after graduation with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in the capacity of Corporate Planner. Sheikh Ahmed Duaij Jaber Al Sabah graduated with Master of Business Administration from Maastricht School of Management in March 2008 after obtaining his Bachelor degree in Science with a major in Finance from Bentley College – United States of America in May 2000 .
